Hi Ryan, great video! I have a question regarding the examples in the essay.
I always see that you provide examples of both your own experience and subjective phenomena/statistics/trends. When I practice writing, I sometimes have problem coming up with the latter, statistics in particular, because I do not have enough knowledge on the real-world situation of the topic. I was wondering, if the argument is a common sense but I don’t have detailed knowledge on it, is it risky if I make up statistics to support my argument?
For example, if my argument is “TV commercials have the capacity to raise people’s awareness of celebrating national holidays”, can I make up an example such as “Statistics/The literature/Surveys show(s) that …has significantly increased by 15%.”?
To my understanding, IELTS tests the ability of using language, not fact checking. Using statistics seem to make argument strong. However, I don’t know if examiners will actually question the statistics. I hope to get your opinion on it.
I look forward to getting your response. Thank you!

Dear Ryan what will be our response if the question asks to discuss the causes and give our solutions. For example if the above question comes in this manner,
“Why are so many people forgetting the actual meanings of ocassions? Discuss the reasons and give possible solutions.”
Do thesis, outline sentences and supporting paragraphs will only be abt the reasons of the problem. wat abt the solutions then.
