(Model letter) Recent IELTS exam letter response to a question seen last month in Brisbane, Australia

You and your elderly friend, who has difficult walking, visited a museum recently.  Write a letter to the museum explaining the difficulties you found during the visit.  In your letter include:

  • details of your visit
  • the problems you faced
  • what you feel the museum could do to improve its facility

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to you to bring a shortcoming your museum has to your attention.  Please allow me to elaborate.

You see, last week I visited your museum with an elderly friend of mine.  Due to my friend’s age, he cannot walk for long periods of time.  I’m sure you can understand our disappointment when we were told that the museum does not have any wheelchairs for public use.  Because of this, we were only able to see half of the exhibits we had planned on due to my friend’s fatigue.  Instead of spending our whole day with you, we left about an hour after we arrived.

I hope you will take measures rectify this situation, as I feel it is a very major oversight on your part.  Please kindly let us know when the facility becomes more accessible to the disabled and we will happily return.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

Ryan
